Before you discount a slow date, check these 4 things
A slow date makes a discount feel like the obvious move. Often it isn't the first one to make.
When pickup stalls for a date, check these first:
- Restrictions. Is a minimum stay or closed-to-arrival blocking bookings you would happily take?
- Channels. Is the date open everywhere it should be, with the right rooms loaded?
- Your position. Has your compset moved, or is your rate suddenly out of line with similar hotels?
- Timing. Is this your normal quiet patch before last-minute bookings arrive? Your past pickup will tell you.
If all four are fine and you're still behind, make one limited, reversible change, then watch next week's pickup to see whether it worked.
A discount is a tool. It shouldn't be a reflex.
