Occupancy tells you where you are. Pickup tells you where you're going.
Most hotel meetings in Bali start with one number: occupancy on the books.
"We're at 62% for the 20th." Good? Bad? On its own, nobody can say.
The number that tells you what to do with your rate is pickup: how many rooms you sold for that date in the last 7 days, compared with the same window last year or last month.
- 62% on the books and picking up fast: you can probably charge more.
- 62% on the books and nothing new in a week: hold the rate and check why before you discount.
- 62% on the books, and last year you were at 75% at this point: you are behind. That is the moment to act, not 3 days before arrival.
A simple habit: every Monday, write down rooms on the books for the next 30, 60 and 90 days. Next Monday, subtract. That difference is your pickup. Do it for 4 weeks and you will see your hotel's rhythm.
Occupancy is a snapshot. Pickup is the direction.
This is the signal Revbot reads every day before it moves a rate, always inside the rules your hotel sets. Want to see it on your own dates? Request a free 7-day demo at revbot.id.
